First, let's practice using Chromespeak! Listen to Mrs. Day's directions. Let's Practice:
Now let's talk about why and how we use computers to research! Use your note paper and/or Chromespeak to learn about animals! Want to research a different animal? Click Brooke the fish. Then go to KIDS INFO BITS then Animals. First, let's practice using Chromespeak! Use your mouse to highlight the text below, then right click and select the headphones in the side menu. The text will be read aloud! Let's Practice:
Now let's try Microsoft Word!
Can you type your name and change the color and size? Let's practice saving your doc! Use the CNTRL S shortcut! Type your name in the box. First, let's practice using Chromespeak! Use your mouse to highlight the text below, then right click and select the headphones in the side menu. The text will be read aloud! So the next time you are using Chrome, and need some reading help, use Chromespeak! Let's Practice:
Now, let's get into Google Classroom and begin working with Google Slides!
Take some time to get to know the options in the ribbon (i.e. change the font color and size, insert a shape, etc.). Due to continued testing taking place in the computer lab, we will not have access to computers this week. Instead, we will go over the quizzes we previously took to reinforce concepts and to address misconceptions.
Today, we will get to know more about CODING. What do you think COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS do? Why might this be an important job? How might CODING impact us in the future? Now let's explore coding using CODE's Play Lab!
*Remember that coding takes patience and problem-solving skills! We will work on CODING today!
Remember the rules for Pair Programming:
1. First, let's practice using the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys. 2. Then, we will continue to practice using the letter keys today.
**Remember, do not cross the invisible wall! Dun dun dun
Due to testing taking place in the computer lab this week, we will not have access to computers. Instead, we will be applying and reflecting on the learning we have done so far with a short quiz.
We will begin finding and using the letter keys today! Woot woot! 1. First, use the Sesame Street activity to spell your first name. For a challenge, spell your last name too! 2. Then, do Keyboard Zoo. Remember the letter keys are NOT in alphabetical order. Need a challenge? Try locating letters by matching their sound!
